After three and a half blissful years of surfing Gaia Online via school computers, the website has now been blocked by PPS in accordance with Board Policy 8.60.040-P. Which, in my opinion, is ridiculous.

Unacceptable Uses of the Computer Network or Internet
• Violating any state or federal law or municipal ordinance, such as: Accessing or transmitting pornography of any kind, obscene depictions, harmful materials, materials that encourage others to violate the law, confidential information or copyrighted materials.
• Selling or purchasing illegal items or substances.
• Obtaining and/or using anonymous email sites; spamming; spreading viruses.
• Causing harm to others or damage to their property, such as:
1. Using profane, abusive, or impolite, suggestive, inappropriate, unprofessional language; threatening, harassing, or making damaging or false statements about others or accessing, transmitting, or downloading offensive, harassing, or disparaging materials;
2. Deleting, copying, modifying, or forging other users' names, emails, files, or data; disguising one's identity, impersonating other users, or sending anonymous email;
3. Damaging computer equipment, files, data or the network in any way, including intentionally accessing, transmitting or downloading computer viruses or other harmful files or programs, or disrupting any computer system performance;
PPS Information Technology Page 1 1/18/2007
4. Using any District computer to pursue “hacking,” internal or external to the District, or attempting to access information protected by privacy laws; or
5. Accessing, transmitting or downloading large files, including "chain letters" or any type of "pyramid schemes".
• Engaging in uses that jeopardize access or lead to unauthorized access into others’ accounts or other computer networks, such as:
1. Using another’s account password(s) or identifier(s);
2. Interfering with other users' ability to access their account(s); or
3. Disclosing anyone’s password to another or allowing a person to use another user's account(s).
4. Providing account information to others allowing or allowing student access to sensitive data
• Using the network or Internet for commercial purposes:
1. Using the Internet or the network for personal financial gain;
2. Using the Internet or the network for personal advertising, promotion, or financial gain; or
3. Using the network to conduct for-profit business activities and/or engage in non-government related fundraising or public relations activities such as solicitation for religious purposes, lobbying for personal political purposes.

Surfing Gaia does none of these things.

Except possibly use of improper or "unprofessional" language, which is a whole different matter completely.

Oh well. The period is almost over, anyway.

If you guys know any proxy servers that haven't been blocked by evil conniving school peeplz, let me know. I tried at least fifty just this period, and none of them work.

Bah! Not that passionate about this, but it is annoying. It means I will have to spend my TA periods distracting the kids in class. How's that taste, school board? Bitter?

American idol: top 24. [Wednesday

[ music | What is love? Baby, don't hurt me no more. ]

Here's a list of the people who I think shouldn't have made it... especially not over Josiah Leming. And these are just the people they showed clips of auditions for to remind me what they sounded like... there were several others who got through who didn't deserve it, I just couldn't remember my excuses why.

David Cook (bad voice guy). I really don't know why he got through. He's not very good at singing and he's really unoriginal.

David Archelletto (previously dead voice guy). His vowel sounds suck and he doesn't really know how to control his vibrato or tone yet. This kid is just sixteen, he still needs a few more years to get to know his voice.

Dani Noriega (stupid young bad singer guy). Once again, horrible vowel sounds, inexperience, and this kid is just really annoying. He reminds me of Betty's younger brother from Ugly Betty... except this kid isn't funny, or cool, or cute. ):

Josiah's vowel sounds are, usually, pretty good (though his E's could use some work, but that's kinda style-y). That's why he sounds British when he sings, because them Brits know their vowels! And, most of all, he's original as hell. So, so, so incredibly creative. Here, here are a couple of his songs I found that I effing love... and he's not even liscensed, meaning these haven't even been put through a real studio, so they could sound like a trillion times better, if that's possible. Not, I'm not saying he's the best artist ever, and he's certainly not the best vocalist, but... he's most certainly good enough to make it pretty darn big.

plus another. )

But Brooke White, oh man, I love her so much. I don't think I've seen her best singing yet, but I think she might become my favorite girl. The one I actually like, at least.

Looking at the judges after they sent Josiah packing... I think they regretted their decision when they heard him admit to his overconfidence, and when he walked away they kind of realized what they'd let go of.

So, there's this kid called Josiah Leming on American Idol, and he apparently lives out of his car, and he sang this absolutely gorgeous version of "Grace Kelly" by Mika, and I pretty much died from love. If only Mika's version were that beautiful.

If Josiah doesn't get far I'm going to punch somebody. That was amazing. Granted, his Stand By Me was pretty bad, but that's because he was like about to cry the whole time and the whole band fiasco freaked him out. When it comes down to it, this guy is brilliant, though. His remakes of songs sound like what the originals should have been. His creative mind is pretty inspiring. And man, I went on his myspace, and his original stuff is freaking great too. When I get some of dem moniez together I'll buy that crap up.

Also, he looks kiiind of like Jesse McCartney. And you know what that means...

What does that mean?

PS, I'm down to about 215. Not insanely impressive, but it's also not bad considering I haven't worked out in over a week now.

PPS. The boots I got for Meryl are delish. MMM, boot.

Stupid superdelegates and their stupid faces.

Obama's in the lead right now according to REAL delegates (he has 13 more), but because Hillary has 87 more SUPER delegates, she's technically ahead.

The whole concept of superdelegates is lost on me. I mean, I understand that it's supposed to be so that "Experienced Professionals" can have a say, but that's total crap. Just because I haven't been in politics for the whole seventeen years of my life it doesn't mean I don't truly know who I want to be president for rational reasons.

That last sentence was constructed really badly.

Anyway, it looks like voting in the Oregon primary MAY, I repeat, MAY, matter. There are still hecka other primaries and caucuses before then.

AND, apparently I am allowed to vote in the Oregon Primary. Some states have this cool law that if you're going to be 18 by election day, aka, by NOVEMBER 18th, you can vote in the prsidential primary. That is, some would say, totally gangster.

Sooo, I think I'll register pretty soon. I'm an early bloomer.

[ mood | complacent ]

First, Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid is FINALLY available at the library, and I am INSANELY excited to watch it. Like, CRAAAZY. Such a great anime, FMP. It makes me feel like a million bucks when I watch it. Oh man. I haven't been this excited to see something since Harry Potter. No joke. I am pumped. Too bad I have to watch it alonezors. But that can be more relaxing, so whatever. DAAAAH SOUSUKE HOW I HAVE MISSED YOUUUUUU NOMNOMNOM SEGUE

Second, apparently clementine oranges have negative calories-- ie, they burn up more calories through digestion than they actually contain. I must inform my mother of this in case she doesn't know already. Clementines are delish snack foods, and if eating them actually makes me lose wait, I don't know why I wouldn't eat them! Other than the whole clementine smellin' yellow hands thing... but that can be cool. Like weird perfume or something.

Third, it is snowing and is very pretty. It's also sticking pretty well. Wouldn't it be crazy if I had school off tomorrow, like I had off Monday? What would they do, make Thursday the finals for periods three through six, or would we have to have school on Friday?

Okay, now it's stopped snowing. But it might start again. You know me, I always have faith.

C o m m e n t ?

Yeah, sooo... [Friday

Weight, weight, weight. I'm losing it, apparently.

A little under two weeks ago weeks ago I said to my mom, "let's start working out again" or something to that extent, because after weighing in at a whopping 227 lbs before the trip to the G-parents I was feeling mighty large. That Thursday (a week and a day ago) I took my first trip to the ol' SWCC in a long while (as in, four-ish months), where I did about twenty minutes of lifting weights and about ten of cardio, my pretty much usual work out. Thaaat was uneventful. The Saturday after that I went again, this time going "hardcore", with the usual amount of weight lifting, but with a half an hour of intense elliptical work (as in, burning over 300 calories and sweating up a storm). That night I weighed in at 225-ish... then I had Panda Express for dinner. I think the next night I had Taco Time. I "hardcore" worked out again on Monday, to probably a lesser extent than Saturday since I didn't feel as dead.

I've been eating pretty healthy since then (save the occasional BREADNOMNOM that happens at home -- delish potato bread, no less). I try to spend very little on food during the school week since I'm saving up for cosplay gear and general spending money, so I usually just get a bagel without cream cheese and a diet coke at Noah's... or something like that. Today I had a chocolate chip cookie and a diet peach tazo tea from Starbucks for lunch. Indulging? Who knows. Or cares. I didn't have breakfast today though, so probably not.

Strangely enough, after getting back from working out today (good Lord I was tired, but that's probably because I listened to such fast beated songs as "lovestoned" and "get over it" on the elliptical, plus I was all frustrated about life and stuff so I "ran" faster)... I really need to stop the constant parenthese, comma and elipse use... anyway... I weighed in at 220. I swear. The needle was right at the big pointy thinger.

Then I guess I ate and drank and now I'm 222. Either that or my currently very flimsy clothes weigh two pounds. I did have one of those fat covered fat slices Erin sent Luke "with love" though, so I dunno, that could have tipped the balance. Either that or the pear. Which one do you think it was?

Anyway, the point is, I've lost anywhere from five to seven pounds in about a week, and I think that's impressive. If I continue at this rate (which I won't, because that's not how losing weight works) I'll have a "healthy BMI", weighing 167 pounds, by mid-April.

But, like I said, that's not going to happen, unless I, uh, stop eating completely or something. My "realistic goal" is to get down to 197 by April. 197 is the point where I stop being "Obese" and become "Slightly Overweight". And now I'm overusing quotation marks.

No, I am not going to become obsessed, and no, I am not going to become anorexic or bulemic. I'm just going to work out my teenage frustration by... working out. And from that working out, I will look awesomer.

[ music | Joshua Radin -- Today ]

Hot, talented, funny guys are great. Seriously I love them. I love them. Why can't they be all over me all the time?

In other news, other than the belt, bracelets, and blondiehair, my whole Gambino outfit is donzor! All bought and recieved. Huzzah! I may do a preliminary photoshoot later today and photoshop it to look more Gambilike.

ALSO

I decided to prepare a MERYL STRYFE cosplay for AX as well! WOOOOOT I AM COOOL

Information'd! )

Sooo, in conclusion, without the boots, this whole outfit is going to cost me $116-- twice the amount my Gambino outfit cost me, but still pretty reasonable. Besides, I've loved Meryl far longer than I've loved Johnny K... Probably almost twice as long! And at least twice as much. Sorry Johnny. <3

Oh, PS, I'm going to make a cute little music vid of my friends from drama all being cute and friendly. I'll post it here when it's done. I don't know what Alex Knapp was talking about, Windows Movie Maker is crazy simple.

PPS I did cardio for half an hour yesterday after lifting weights. It was epic. I was really energetic afterwards, despite hurting like a mother. So I'm going to do that every time I work out. Maybe I'll go again tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day. But not the day after that, since I have rehearsal...

PPPS look at my layout. Innit pritty?

Right, so... [Sunday

[ mood | working ]

After a week of not updating, and weeks more of not actually updating, I thought I'd let you guys in on a little something I've been working on. Since the folks at Gaia are probably all sick and tired of me talking about it by now.

Five months ago I decided that I would like to do a quality Gambino cosplay for AX (anime convention, July 3-6). I emailed a couple of custom cosplay places, one of which closed soon after I sent my email. The second was limebarb, a relatively well known cosplay group. They had their good and bad reviews, but overall, I think the quality of their costumes was enough to try.

The quote that I received for a premium cosplay was:

Undershirt wth gold cuffs: $75
Ribbed vest: $100
Cravat with jewel: $35
Fully-lined cape: $100
Pants: $65
Tights: $30

Good God! That is so expensive! I mean, for each item, I can understand why it would cost that much (the tights he wears are really weird), but for a whole outfit, $405 is way more than I was willing to spend. I'd have to do five months cleaning bathrooms and not spending the money I got from it... and where's the fun in that? So the whole limebarb idea was tossed.

A couple of weeks ago I figured out that I could probably make a good cosplay with items bought cheaply from separate places...

I've forgotten how to make an lj-cut. )
I think I had more to say, but I forgot what it was. Oh, sorry Lumos people, I never got around to transferring my fonts from my old computer to my new laptop, which means I couldn't finish all of the tags. Me = bad.

Errr. [Thursday

I'm trying to transfer my PS7 to my new laptop which I got for Christmas, and for some odd reason my serial number is four numbers too short...

Cough cough.

Could someone please give me theirs? >_> It would be most, most appreciated, and would help me finish several promised tasks. Comments are screened.

Nevermind, I was able to retrieve my full key. Anyways.

PS. Life is fab. Not as fab as I'd like it to be, of course, but pretty damn fab. Still no men falling head over heels for me. What's that about?

Oh, the brilliant things I come up with in the shower... [Tuesday
November 6th, 2007 at 7:23pm]
Now hold it there buster
I see you eying my chops
And I just have to tell you
If you continue to
flirt with me like this
I may just have to show you
how to dance the Russian Spy

Yes, I may sound French
I may look like a Yank
But I am most certainly
A RUSSIAN SPY

Oh, I'll take you to Havana
I'll take you to Peru
I'll take you to Espana
But there's one thing you'll have to do

You go
one two three and shoot
You go
one two three and duck
You go
one two three and run like the Russian spy!

You go
one two three and shoot
You go
one two three and duck
You go
one two three and run like the Russian spy!

Now, if you cannot duplicate
these difficult maneuvers
I will tell you something
But I may have to kill you.

Oh, I'll take you to Havana
I'll take you to Peru
I'll take you to Espana
It isn't very hard -- all you have to do

Is go
one two three and shoot
You go
one two three and duck
You go
one two three and run like the Russian spy!

You go
one two three and shoot
You go
one two three and duck
You go
one two three and run like the Russian
one two three and run like the Russian
one two three and run like the Russian spy!

Sorry sorry sorry.

Second:

2:38 3:00 5:38 2:20 3:15 5:35 1:40 3:00 5:52 Card # 10402429 "Visit your nearest participating location with either name information or your old card number and a member of management will transfer your old card information to your new card."

Into the Wild. Lust, Caution. Darjeeling Limited. Once. Michael Clayton.

A bird flies through the patchwork buildings overhead. A lone messenger of Outside against the lights of the city, fighting the dim dusk of sunset, the clouds scattered like peach scrubbing bubbles. A woman crosses the street horizontally perpendicular to my path. She is wearing red pumps. I laugh and wonder whether she is going to meet someone or hoping to meet someone. There is road construction. I ignore the traffic. I walk past a prints shop. In a painting of the ocean, a woman stares on the sand as a fish as large as a mountain kisses another from the sky. I smile at its questionable artistry. At the bus stop, I sit and lean against a Willamette Week dispenser. A group of rowdy teens arrive and throw empty cans at the ground.

"Happiness is only real when shared."

A movie like Into the Wild changes your outlook on the wonders and scraps of life for about one week.

8 Jackson Park farts exhaust. Biofuel can be improper.

Graffiti on a barren concrete building I have never understood before reads RELAPS. Baja Fresh advertises above. Is this comical?

12 to Sherwood is warm like a marshmallow down blanket, nearly smothering. The breeze from the window across from my seat in the corner of the handicapped row softly pumps green sharpie fumes through and out my lungs. I wonder whether I am on the right bus, but when we pass the stop at PSU where I took improv class and learned that drama can be meaningless if you don't have a connection, wow that was a long off-topic point, I am assured.

Jimmy Eat World pounds soothingly on my eardrums and I am reminded how They chose not to visit on Their tour and how I cared too little to look into a concert in Washington. Also new album on the 16th which I will probably not get until Christmas. A woman sitting not right next to me coughs. I click my sharpie closed and shut my eyes as I let motion take way. I Will Follow You Into The Dark Death Cab For Cutie.

Old man on bus, red glare. Native American woman and the two drums she just made. Destitute, not decrepid, balding overgrown hairy sad guy smells of cherries and alcohol.

Starbucks. KT Tunstall Tall Buildings Fading In The Distance. Maybe I should have picked up something other than a sharpie? Tall Java Chip Frappaccino. "Nice whip on that," quips my barista's co-worker. Mmmm. I lick off the top and delve into warm creamy calorific coating euphoria, try to drink but it's too thick. It's getting dark. Peach bubbles decay to dirty snow in a foggy puddle of faded forgotten blue. I have to go home before my cats die of starvation, but I hope someone I admire will pass me by once more, though it's admittedly unlikely.

I think KT is done. So it's time for me to click the sharpie again and head up the hill. X on my thumb.

Green brown red blue gray. Monopoly is back.
